Te Kopahau Restoration Strategy and Research

Taranaki Whānui uri have been working with our relations at Ngāti Toa Rangatira, and in collaboration with Wellington City Council to improve the health of Te Kopahau/Te Kapo Hau, Wellington’s Southern Coast.

Historically many kainga, mahinga kai and other sites of significant were located in this area. We’ve completed research and are now developing a strategy grounded in mātauranga Māori.

We have aspirations of creating employment path ways for uri (descendants) to take on active kaitiakitanga roles like monitoring, rangering and research.
